Dhaka, along with its metropolitan area, has a population of over 15 million and is the 9th largest city in the world.

There are an estimated 680,000 street children in Bangladesh, and more than half of them are believed to be in the capital, Dhaka.

The picture shows two children filter through the garbage dumpsters to find any items of use to sell it on the local market.

The picture was honored at the “Europäischer Naturfotograf des Jahres 2008.
